I leave mine on, mainly a habit from the days not so long ago when downloading torrents on crap speed internet and relying on seeding bonus. Also takes a good 7 or 8 minutes to fully boot up now. My drives are full of crap and when i get the chance i'll do a bit of cleaning.

Never, as my boot up time is 10seconds and can usually download what i need within 20mins. On the odd occasion my download goes slow, i use my satellite receiver to download instead as thats left on 24/7 anyway.

A couple of times i have had to upload a large file (gigs) , i dragged it onto my phones SDcard and left my phone uploading it over night whilst on charge.

Grab yourself an ssd drive m8. From switch on to full boot , abt 20 seconds.

I could run a VM or even get my Windows laptop out

I tend to chill out with an Ipad and yes a few apps for IOS but none as "familiar" as the old daddy miRC

IRC is a survivor from the very start of the internet and it makes me smile that it is still used today...
