daz2905
I've never actually considered it. Just googled it and seen that there is a venue near me on 8th april. I think i may go and give some blood but can someone confirm it takes 10 minutes? I don't want to book an appointment and be kept waiting. It will be in the daytime when i'm at work and if they mess me about my blood pressure will go through the roof and they'll end up taking 2 litres in 2 minutes rather than 470ml in 10 minutes. chizh
Always best to book in advance daz if you can. They're pretty good at keeping to the times but I'd say by rocking up you could well be waiting over 1/2 hour before being called if it's a popular place. I went at the back end of last year and didn't book beforehand. Was told it would be well over an hour. At the time I could be arsed waiting that long and went back home to book for the next session. I got one of the last 3 slots available and that was 16 weeks in advance. Donating varies for me. Best time is 7 minutes and longest 22. Summer vs Winter as it turns out. rogerbodger
I cant give blood, due to having a blood transfusion. But im soooooo grateful to the people who do, without them i wouldnt be here today!
chizh
Coincidentally, just had my confirmation for next weeks donation: Your arrival time is 17:15. We aim to complete your donation within one hour of this time.
daz2905
Cheers, i will give it a go. Just looked again and they have an evening one so i'll make an appointment so i can go on the way home. A 1 hour slot just puts me off but seeing as i've never done it before i think it would be a good thing to do, hopefully it won't take too long and if it was 20 minutes i could cope with that, just not during the day though. suke
I'm glad I made some people think about doing it and congrats to them that do, unfortunately today for me was a no go. I failed the iron test again and this is third time on trot this has happened. Apparently they are quite strict about the pass number which is 135 and mine was 131, so not far out but not good enough. They have said I will have to wait a year now before I try again but after failing 3 times I think this is the end for me, so its 59 donations and out. But for all you people that are giving keep it up, they do need you.
Johnner
Have you haemochromatosis mate ?
Wally
I give blood every 4months on the dot and never miss an appointment. In my opinion, if you are willing to accept blood then you should be willing to give blood. I think i reached 35 contributions last month. sstocky
Yeh its easy enough to do and once done no nerves. Our does get delayed at times with walk ins but I usually stick two hours on the parking to make sure. A lad at work is doing platelets so goes a lot more often regards
mitchb
I've tried but not allowed to as I have crohns disease. Annoys me that many people probably don't even think of donating when they could and would be first to complain if they cant get something they need.
