James.D
Been using PIA for the last year but starting to have more problems with it crashing and not connecting on some devices. So as my sub is about to run out i think its time for a look at somthing else. What do you use?

Snuffs99
I use smartDNS with ghost premium atm....only because i got ghost premium for £11/year via a special offer after a trial........although tbf its been very good speeds wise and allows torrents etc so all good on that front but i've also got a tor socks 4 proxy that i use with torrents.. chizh
Now that my SmartDNS trial has finished I'm being bombarded with 'offer' emails. The latest works out at 24 Months - $24.90 = £18.30 Worth it? Only thing putting me off is the "max recurring cost of £734.84" in the recurring terms bit during payment. I also have a SlickVPN £12/year which is reporting DNS leak so am I right to think the both should be used in tandem?

That $1000 max recurring cost put me off too. I think i'll do the 1 year sub and then cancel the annual renewal on my credit card.
jakdos
Is it worth getting any of these VPN / DNS proxies if you can't mod your router settings? If you have to put them on each client, do they help? I've got the VM hub and don't have any problems with it, and don't really want to spend any cash replacing it. I do use Kodi and download a lot from usenet, but I've never bothered with proxies / VPN. Should I ?
daz2905
You can use smartdns on the router, i think it's only bt homehub that you can't. There's quite a few addons that are geo blocked so it is worth it and sooner or later the powers that be will start blocking access to more streaming hosts. jakdos
Superhub 2. Can's see anywhere in settings or on google saying that DNS can be changed?
daz2905
Damn, i had the homehub 5 and you couldn't change dns on that either. I bought a new router from amazon warehouse for £50. Homehub was crap anyway so it wasn't really like i had much choice. If you're happy then stay as you are for now, you can change at any time that suits you or wait until there's another deal for smartdns and then take the plunge. I think i got 6 months free on the deal when i took it and now it's only $20 to renew for a year so for me i think it's worth it.

Unless your hacking, trying to access something outside your country that is normally blocked, downloading from torrents or don't want your location and real IP to be seen by anyone i wouldn't say you need a VPN/proxy......Usenet?? well IMHO as long as your Usenet provider has SSL or some form of encryption then you should be fine, sure peeps could potentially see your downloading stuff but they wont know what as its encrypted. jakdos
Don't hack and not been geoblocked yet. Usenet - yeah - had Mik25 on my case back on cave - what's the problem??? When I download a 10GB film in 1080p it is faultless generally. Usenet is SSL so all good. Main reason for keeping with usenet is I have an unlimited premium sub that aint cost me a penny for 6 years. Card was refused back in 2010 and it is still working. Trained the missus to watch stuff from Synology server - really don't fancy the same exercise again with Kodi ps. sorry for hijacking the thread
