goldringers
Were on three different mobile providers in the Ringers household and we all suffer from either low or no coverage when downstairs, missing calls and text if you happen to leave it downstairs. Is there any way to improve the overall signal strength of all 3 providers ?. I know different providers offer a particular box to improve signal strength but I was wondering, do they actually work and do those chinese versions work say like this ; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hot-Sale-900Mhz-LCD-GSM-Mobile-phone-Signal-Booster-cellular-Repeater-Amplifier-/331706740802?hash=item4d3b433042:g:FO8AAOSwI-BWPH2q
daz2905
I've got one of those with a different antennae though. If you've got a good signal outside then they will boost that signal to the inside of your house. Limited range though, i think something like 10 meters without walls. They do work, i got mine to use at work, i use it in my prepshop and it does the job just fine. Boosts from 1 bar to 4 or 5 so i don't miss call. Different networks have different frequencies so i doubt that will work with all 3 networks. I think mine is 1800 mhz for EE.
goldringers
The problem seems to be downstairs and on certain providers it's worse. I'll have to look into it abit more. Another thing , are they legal ?
daz2905
No they are not legal. Something to do with intercepting and broadcasting the signal. All to do with the press and phone hacking, that's my understanding at least.
Sh4ckles
I'm pretty sure some operators can reroute you calls and texts through your broadband when you have bad coverage in an area you can receive wifi at no extra cost to you. I've not looked into it as I don't have that issue but remember reading about it on the three website at some point, I'm pretty sure other operators offer it as well. sstocky
Think there is a couple of companies do this now, cost depends on the operator you get I think - some will pass it out for free and others charge. worth a phonecall although I don't know how you would get three setup!! regards
goldringers
I was looking for a boost when were all downstairs. When were upstairs everythings fine. I look at all these sticky back boosters and shit but I'm not gonna start throwing money at money been the chief tester there's loads on the market that claim this that and the other ,,,,are any actually any good ? daz2905
If they were any good then the providers would be selling them. My dad bought 100 of them years ago, they don't work and he blew £200 on them. He'll probably sell you one if you want one, think he's got 99 left

daz2905
I'm on ee and get wifi calling for free I called them and they said i needed a new handset and kindly wanted to sign me up to a package that costs something like £45. I just prefer to buy my own phones and keep my unlimited calls/text and internet that i've had for over 6 years at £15 a month.
tpolm
I complained and got a free vodafone suresignal (probably coz I got a business account) nevertheless worth pursuing just in case?
Vixen
I am also on EE and have disabled the wifi calling. (Samsung S5) It's great when in the house but as soon as I get out of range it doesn't connect back to data unless I restart my phone. Its a pain when you forget to do this and then 3 hours later when you remember you restart phone and you have loads of missed calls, texts and emails. When I spoke to EE they said its a common complaint. So they sent me a booster box out free, you just plug it into your router and you get a hundred percent signal all over the house. Zeftron
If you're on three you can get a "home signal box" free if you ring customer services and ask for one. You need to jump through some hoops and explain that the wifi calling app hasn't worked for you (it won't, it's appalling tbh). Connects to your router and you just need to add all the 3 numbers in your household via their customer service number and it's good to go. Needs the occasional reboot, but what bit of electronics kit doesn't? Zef.
