HP printers and instant ink

I've had the office jet 4630 for over a year now and signed up to the instant ink program back in January 2015.

 

I signed to the 50 page/month plan @ £1.99/month, great service and i've always got ink, when its running out the printer emails HP for more to arrive before you run out.

The instant ink carts are massive compared to the ones that come with the printer or that you buy from the shop, to give you an idea i've printed over 400 pages (434 to be exact) and still have the same instant ink carts in......pisses you off tbf to think you can pay £30+ for a new set of carts from the shop and they run out after like 40 pages etc.

 

From my experience and having used it now for over a year i cant recommend the instant ink program enough tbh, if you have kids at school etc its great knowing you'll always have ink and can print at will, doesn't matter if its a draft in grey scale or a full blown hi res photo print, 1 page is counted as 1 page....Oh and any pages you don't use in a month roll over to the next month (to a total of 100 pages (on my plan)).

Well worth the £24/year IMHO as you don't really notice the £1.99 going out the bank each month.

 

When you enrol for an HP Instant Ink plan, you pay a monthly fee to print a defined number of pages per month. The plans are based on the number of pages that you print, not on how many ink cartridges in a month, you can roll over up to the number of pages per month in your plan. If you print more pages, there is an additional charge but you are still paying the same price per page as your base plan. A printed page counts the same whether it’s black and white, a colour document, or a photo. There are three plans:

There is no annual fee or penalty fees and you can cancel or change plans online any time.5 As part of the service, HP will send you HP Instant Ink replacement cartridges and pre-paid recycling envelopes, at no additional cost. Your billing month starts when you insert an HP Instant Ink cartridge in your enroled printer.

 

Your printer tells us that you’re low on ink, so we will know when to send you more. You will always have ink when you need it.2 HP Instant Ink cartridges can only be used in the printer that you have enroled. Used HP Instant Ink cartridges must be returned in the pre-paid recycling envelopes provided by HP. Returned cartridges will be recycled by HP Planet Partners.
