ganjaman
There is a few months to go till the new flat racing season starts [ April ] but here is a list of horses to follow: ***** Considerable improvement expected, strongly recommended to follow **** Above average improvement expected, definitely worth following *** Improvement expected, worth following OLDER HORSES BARNACLE BILL (4 gr g Big Bad Bob – Katch Me Katie) **** Form: 310- Trainer: Jessica Harrington Owner: Mill House LLC Half brother to smart stayers Nearly Caught and Pale Mimosa who caught the eye when a staying on third behind Bondi Beach in a 12f maiden at Leopardstown on debut last May, and he duly got off the mark at the second time of asking in a similar event at Tipperary the following month, seeing off next-time-out winner Harasava by 1¼ lengths. His only other outing to date came in a 9.5f minor event at Gowran Park last September (5/2 favourite), ridden along with fully half a mile left to run and dropping out tamely to finish last of 10 behind Pullman Brown (beaten 38 lengths). He is best forgiven that effort, returning from an absence and running no sort of race over an inadequate trip; gelded since, he remains with potential for the season ahead in 12f+ handicaps from an attractive mark of 80. BESS OF HARDWICK (4 b f Dansili – Request) ***** Form: 31– Trainer: Luca Cumani Owner: Duke of Devonshire Half sister to high-class middle distance/staying performer Ask who shaped with real promise on her debut outing in a 12f fillies’ maiden at Newmarket last May (16/1 chance), travelling well and moving closer over three furlongs out, running green off the bridle initially but staying on strongly to take third behind Gretchen (beaten 2 lengths). She wasn’t seen again until contesting a 12f maiden at Wolverhampton five months later (4/6 market leader), tanking along in behind the leaders and coasting to head of affairs entering the final furlong, nudged clear to score by 2¾ lengths from Red Cardinal. It was a visually taking performance from this well-related filly, admittedly not beating much but value for a lot further than the eventual margin of victory; very much the type to improve considerably with racing in 2016, firstly in handicaps from an opening mark of 87; should stay further than 12f. CARTMELL CLEAVE (4 br g Pastoral Pursuits – There’s Two) **** Form: 162216- Trainer: Stuart Kittow Owner: G D C Jewell Made a winning return to action in a 5.5f handicap at Bath last April and, following a below par effort on rain-softened ground at Chester, posted a couple of good second place finishes in handicaps at Windsor (5f) and Epsom (6f). He returned to winning ways in a 6f handicap at Newmarket (July) in August (9/2 chance), travelling strongly in rear and making progress two furlongs out, ridden between rivals to lead entering the final furlong and running out a commanding 2-length winner over Atletico. He didn’t find the gaps coming so readily when sixth of 17 to Right Touch from an 8lb higher mark in a better race at Ascot next time (travelled best), but that effort showed he is still handily treated. Suited by waiting tactics, this gelding appeals strongly as the type to be seen to best effect when coming off a strong pace in big-field events; rather surprising if he couldn’t bag himself a good prize this term. DREAMLIKE (4 b f Oasis Dream – So Silk) **** Form: 21/722- Trainer: Luca Cumani Owner: Fittocks Stud & Andrew Bengough Half sister to Park Hill winner Silk Sari who chased home subsequent French Oaks winner Star Of Seville on her second start before coming good at the third time of asking (clocking a good time in the process) in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Lingfield in December 2014. She looked in need of the run when only seventh to Covert Love in a 10.5f fillies’ handicap at York on her return last May, duly stepping up on that muted effort when chasing home Suffused in a 10f fillies’ handicap at Newbury the following month and Asyad in a 12f fillies’ handicap at Ascot in July. Her two conquerors both went on to make the frame at a higher level subsequently, and this daughter of Oasis Dream appeals as well treated from her current mark of 83; still far from the finished article, there’s more to come in 2016. ELJADDAAF (5 b g Shamardal – Almansoora) **** Form: 7– Trainer: Dean Ivory Owner: Wentdale Ltd & Mrs Lesley Ivory Half brother to useful UK/UAE 7-9.5f winner Ostaad whose only outing to date came in an 8.5f maiden at Wolverhampton last November (16/1 chance, hooded), very slowly into stride and keen in rear, moving up on the outside at halfway but ridden and fading with over a furlong left to run, coming home last of seven behind Bromyard (beaten 15½ lengths). This gelding is nigh on certain to rate much better than his debut showing, patently in need of the experience and considerately handled once held having made a promising mid-race move. His handler has a good record with cast-offs from top operations, picking this gelding up for 8,500gns from Godolphin, and this son of Shamardal appeals as the type to come good in a big way at some stage; may prove best around 7f. HEATSTROKE (4 b c Galileo – Walklikeanegyptian) ***** Form: 01/ Trainer: Charlie Hills Owner: Mrs Fitri Hay Full brother to high-class 10-12f winner (including at Group 3/Listed level) The Corsican and 7f 2yo Group 3 winner Deauville who left behind his debut effort to land 1m maiden at Kempton in October 2014 (16/1 chance), tanking along in midfield and making headway two furlongs out, sweeping through to lead inside the final 150 yards and clearing right away to score by 2¾ lengths from Maxwell. It was a visually striking performance from this son of Galileo, settling matters in clinical fashion, having travelled strongly under a waiting ride. He missed last season in its entirety due to an ankle problem, but, all being well, he has the potential to make up into a pattern-class performer this term; an opening mark of 87 more than likely to see him make his return in handicaps; will stay 10f. INTIMATION (4 b f Dubawi – Infallible) ***** Form: 9/11- Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Owner: Cheveley Park Stud Half sister to Group 3/Listed-placed 10f 3yo winner Mutakayyef and Stewards’ Cup winner Intrinsic who stepped up markedly on her debut showing at two to land a 1m fillies’ maiden at Nottingham on her return last May (20/1 chance), taking a while to hit top stride but doing so deep inside the final furlong to get up in the dying strides and deny Bella Nouf by half a length. She followed up in good style in a 10f fillies’ handicap at Leicester a month later (6/5 favourite), travelling powerfully close up and taking over approaching the final furlong, storming clear to see off Mikandy by 4½ lengths. This daughter of Dubawi wasn’t seen again thereafter for whatever reason, but she left a lasting impression on the two occasions she did appear and is bred to do better still at four; been raised 10lbs to a mark of 90, but she possesses black-type pretensions and can realise them sooner rather than later. PREDOMINANCE (4 b g Danehill Dancer – Gilded Vanity) **** Form: 124- Trainer: William Haggas Owner: Highclere Thoroughbred Racing (Queen Anne) Full brother to Birdman who made a belated winning debut in a soft-ground 7f maiden at Chepstow last September (5/2 chance), tanking along under a patient ride and making smooth progress over two furlongs out, produced to lead approaching the final furlong and coming readily clear inside the final 150 yards to score by 6 lengths from New Stream. He went on to acquit himself with a deal of credit in a pair of handicaps at Newbury (1m) and Doncaster (7f), set plenty to do both times and running on well, finishing in behind some established sorts when last seen. This gelding looks the type to take high rank in 7f/1m handicaps this term, with races such as the Spring Mile and Royal Hunt Cup appealing as logical short/medium-term targets; will begin 2016 from a mark of 90. STAKE ACCLAIM (4 b g Acclamation – Golden Legacy) ***** Form: 1/7512- Trainer: Dean Ivory Owner: Michael Yarrow Progressive in maidens at two, but he was far too keen when last of seven on his belated return in a 7f handicap at Kempton last June, gelded subsequently and shaping much better when fading late into fifth behind Muir Lodge in a 6f handicap at Newmarket (July). He clearly benefited from both that outing and the step back in distance when seeing off Red Invader by a length to land a 5f handicap at the same venue a couple of weeks later, signing off with a good second place finish to Mehronissa back over 6f on the Rowley Mile course the following month (tanked along, still on the bridle entering the final two furlongs). That latest effort reaffirmed the view this son of Acclamation will ultimately prove best suited by the minimum distance, boasting plenty of natural speed; starting out from a revised mark of 87, everything is in place for this gelding climb the sprinting ranks in 2016. SWISS AFFAIR (4 b f Pivotal – Swiss Lake) ***** Form: 221- Trainer: John Gosden Owner: Lordship Stud Full sister to smart sprinter Swiss Diva and a half sister to smart sprinters Swiss Dream and Swiss Spirit who shaped very well in defeat when finding one too good in a pair of 6f maidens at Doncaster and Lingfield last spring, showing good early speed on the latter occasion when caught on the post by Effectual. She wasn’t seen again until landing a 6f maiden at Windsor last October (8/13 market leader), tracking the leader and travelling well, taking over inside the two furlong marker and quickening clear as she ran out a convincing 2-length winner from Dream Bounty. The bare form of that victory is nothing special, but this daughter of Pivotal is bred to be smart and improve with age, asked to start out in handicaps from a mark of 85 but capable of reaching a higher level; well worth a go over 5f. THREE-YEAR-OLDS PATTERN CLASS ANDASTRA (b f Kamsin – Arpista) **** Form: 1- Trainer: Ralph Beckett Owner: H H Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani €190,000 full sister to German 11f 3yo Listed winner Amazonit who made a winning start to her career in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Nottingham last September (5/2 joint-favourite), straight into the lead and racing enthusiastically at the head of affairs, quickening on passing the three furlong marker and in full control thereafter, running out an easy 3-length winner from Norse Magic. The bare level of form achieved was nothing out of the ordinary, but the manner in which this filly got the job done was most impressive, readily sealing matters from the front and clocking a decent time in the process. Her pedigree points to a stiffer test of stamina bringing about major improvement in 2016, and it would come as no surprise to see this daughter of Kamsin develop into a credible Oaks contender. CLAIRE DE LUNE (ch f Galileo – Solo De Lune) **** Form: 1- Trainer: Jean-Claude Rouget Owner: Joseph Allen Half sister to French 10f 3yo Group 1 winner Cerulean Sky, Irish Oaks winner/Oaks runner-up Moonstone, Irish 12f 3yo Listed winner/Irish Oaks runner-up L’Ancresse and Group 3-placed 10f 3yo winner Qaatef. This smartly-bred filly made a winning debut in a 9.5f fillies’ maiden at Bordeaux Le Bouscat last November (3/1 chance), tanking along close to the action on the outer, shaken up two furlongs out and soon leading, strongly pressed inside the final furlong but merely pushed out to maintain the advantage and score by half a length from Fresh Air. It was a smooth debut performance from this daughter of Galileo, value for further than the eventual winning margin having been far from all out to prevail; bred to excel over middle distances, she rates a smart prospect for the season ahead. MAQUETTE (gr f Tapit – Announce) ***** Form: 1- Trainer: Andre Fabre Owner: Khalid Abdullah First foal of a 10f Group 1 Prix Jean Romanet winner who made a winning start to her career in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Saint-Cloud last October (21/10 favourite), waited with in last until shaken up and making progress down the outer from the two furlong marker, green off the bridle initially but finishing off strongly inside the final furlong to get up close home and deny Redcold by ¾ length. It was a deeply impressive debut performance from this smartly-bred daughter of Tapit, coming from well off the pace and overcoming clear signs of inexperience to score without having to be asked for absolutely everything (third and sixth both winners next time out). This filly rates a tremendous prospect for top connections, appealing as the type to make up into a classic contender; will stay 10f. MIDTERM (b c Galileo – Midday) ***** Form: 1- Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Owner: Khalid Abdullah First foal of a six-time 10/12f Group 1 winner who made the perfect start his career in a 1m maiden at Newbury last October (8/1 chance), waited with in midfield and shaken up over two furlongs out, making headway approaching the final furlong and finishing off strongly against the stands’ side rail to get up close home and score by a length from Magnum. This colt did well to win at all first time out, making up a fair amount of ground in a short space of time under mainly hands-and-heels riding to overhaul more experienced rivals (solid form). His pedigree and connections alone are pointers to a big future, allied with that impressive debut success; bred for middle distances, this son of Galileo’s early-season campaign is almost certain to be tailored towards a crack at the Derby. MOONLIGHT MAGIC (b c Cape Cross – Melikah) ***** Form: 11- Trainer: Jim Bolger Owner: Godolphin Half brother to Arc third Masterstroke who made a winning start to his career in a 7f maiden at Cork last October (4/6 market leader), tracking the leaders and ridden two furlongs out, making good progress to lead approaching the final furlong and always holding on from the fast-finishing Embrian to score by a neck. He maintained his unbeaten record when landing the 1m 1f Listed Eyrefield Stakes at Leopardstown just eight days later (5/1 chance), towards the rear of the field and ridden over two furlongs out, staying on strongly to lead inside the final 100 yards and score by ¾ length from Landofhopeandglory. That this colt was able to overhaul a more experienced rival who had enjoyed the run of things is praiseworthy, remembering the race came little more than week on from his debut outing; bred to excel with time and distance, he rates a very smart middle distance prospect for 2016. PRIZE MONEY (b c Authorized – Dresden Doll) **** Form: 1- Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor Owner: Godolphin Half brother to useful 6-7f winner Role Player out of a half sister to Irish 1000 Guineas winner Crimplene who made a winning start to his career in a 1m maiden at Newmarket last October (11/8 favourite), tracking the leaders in the centre field group and ridden to challenge two furlongs out, soon leading and, despite edging persistently left, staying on strongly inside the final 150 yards to score by 4½ lengths from Hepplewhite. It was a visually striking performance from this colt, the market forewarning of such an eventuality, plainly in need of the experience but going clear at the finish in the manner of a smart prospect. From a good family that tends to improve with age, this son of Authorized is open to above-average improvement in his second season; will stay 10f. RAYMONDA (b f Lonhro – Daring Diva) **** Form: 1- Trainer: Dermot Weld Owner: Khalid Abdullah Half sister to smart Irish 8-9.5f winner (including at Group 2/3 level) Brooch and Irish 9.5/10f Listed winner Caponata who got off the mark at the first time of asking in a 7f fillies’ maiden at the Curragh last October (4/1 chance), tracking the leaders and moving closer over two furlongs out, pushed into the lead entering the final furlong and coming clear inside the final 100 yards to score by 2¾ lengths from Twin Falls. This filly is from a good family that connections have enjoyed plenty of success with in recent times, and she looks a fine addition given the manner of her debut success; open to above-average improvement this term, she’ll stay at least 1m. ROYAL ARTILLERY (b/br c War Front – Masseuse) ***** Form: 1- Trainer: John Gosden Owner: Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith $450,000 purchase who created a deep impression when making a winning start to his career in a 7f maiden at Doncaster last October (even-money favourite), patiently ridden in rear until picking his way through the pack soon after halfway, shaken up to lead approaching the final furlong and merely pushed out to record a 2½-length margin of victory over Wild Hacked. This colt boasts impressive paper credentials and has the looks to match – a big, strong sort who displayed a fluent action on debut, not in keeping with one that would have particularly enjoyed the easy ground he faced that day. The bare form of that maiden win looks fair at best, but he’s nigh on certain to leave that well behind in due course, especially once encountering a sounder surface; no surprise to see him aimed at a 2000 Guineas trial of some description this spring, though he’s a very exciting prospect wherever he ends up. SO MI DAR (b f Dubawi – Dar Re Mi) ***** Form: 1- Trainer: John Gosden Owner: Lord Lloyd-Webber Half sister to Group 3/Listed-placed French 7-10f winner De Treville out of a very smart 10-12f winner (including three times at Group 1 level) who was a half sister to 10f Group 1 winner Rewilding. This beautifully-bred filly made a winning start to her career in an 8.5f fillies’ maiden at Windsor last October (6/1 chance), racing in behind the leaders and shaken up two furlongs out, staying on well throughout the final furlong to lead in the dying strides and deny Golden Stunner by a neck. It’s to her credit that she was able to win first time out, overhauling one that had gained first run and boasted previous experience; comes from a wonderful middle distance family and is sure to do better still once presented with a stiffer test this term, looking every inch an Oaks prospect. ZEST (b f Duke Of Marmalade – Affinity) **** Form: 21- Trainer: James Fanshawe Owner: Elite Racing Club Second foal of a 12f winning half sister to Soviet Song who shaped with real encouragement on her debut outing in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Haydock last September (9/1 chance), racing with enthusiasm in midfield, shaken up and making good progress from the two furlong marker, staying on well inside the final furlong and only just failing to reel in Chicadoro. She duly went one better in a similar event at Doncaster the following month (4/9 favourite), refusing to settle in mid-division but joining issue going easily two furlongs out, edging right but staying on well inside the final furlong to fend off Very Dashing by ¾ length. It is a testament to her ability that she was able to see things out so well having taken such a strong hold, travelling much the best; looks another smart prospect from this family and is certain to stay 10f on pedigree, though her free-going nature does raise some doubts on that score. MAIDENS AURORA GRAY (gr f Rip Van Winkle – Summer’s Eve) *** Form: 7– Trainer: Hughie Morrison Owner: Wardley Bloodstock Closely related to useful dual 1m winner Early Morning (by New Approach) out of a Group 3/Listed-placed 1m 1f 3yo winning sister to Ascot Gold Cup winner Papineau and half sister to St Leger winner Silver Patriarch. This filly’s sole outing to date came in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Chelmsford last November (not unfancied 8/1 chance), racing with zest in midfield and shaken up two furlongs out, running green and short of room at the furlong marker, not given a hard time thereafter as she came home seventh of 10 to Khaleesy (beaten 6¼ lengths). She shaped a little better than the end result implies, travelling okay to a point but green and then hampered at a crucial stage; only ever liable to start revealing her true potential in her second season, better can be expected in 2016; ought to stay 10f. AUSTRALIAN QUEEN (b f Fastnet Rock – Barshiba) **** Form: 5– Trainer: David Elsworth Owner: Jeff Smith Half sister to high-class 5-10.5f winner (including at Group 1 level) Arabian Queen who debuted in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Kempton last November (well-supported 3/1 chance), slowly into stride and in rear as a result, still well off the pace when ridden along down the outer with two furlongs left to run but staying on nicely inside the final furlong to take fifth behind Zaakhir (beaten 5¼ lengths). She comes from a family that has served these connections with distinction and shaped well on debut under the circumstances, immediately on the back foot after blowing the start but closing in at the line; open to plenty of improvement this term, she ought to find 10f within range. C NOTE (b c Iffraaj – Alexander Queen) ***** Form: 3- Trainer: Martyn Meade Owner: Rick Barnes 55,000gns half brother to smart 6-7f winner (including at Listed level) Alkasser, useful 5-6f winner Bognini and useful triple 6f winner Dragon King, out of a useful 5f 2yo winning half sister to high-class sprinters Anthem Alexander and Dandy Man. This colt debuted in a 7f maiden at Newmarket last September (14/1 chance), waited with in midfield until making good progress on the far side over two furlongs out, challenging entering the final furlong but unable to sustain his effort fully as he finished third to Crazy Horse (beaten a neck). He shaped with abundant promise in a useful-looking maiden, coming into things stylishly and only just finding a couple (including a next-time-out Group 3 winner) too strong at the death; looks a smart prospect for his burgeoning stable and for all seven furlongs is clearly within his compass, no surprise to this speedily-bred colt tried over 6f at some stage. CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI (b c Galileo – Dance For Fun) ***** Form: 4- Trainer: Aidan O’Brien Owner: Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor & Derrick Smith Full brother to very smart 7-12f winner (including three times at Group 1 level) Lush Lashes whose sole outing at two came in a 1m maiden at Leopardstown last October (8/1 chance), slowly into stride and short of room as he tried to recover the lost ground, hampered again as he attempted to make progress on the inner approaching the home straight, ridden two furlongs out and staying on strongly to take fourth behind Tirmizi (beaten 4 lengths). This colt fared best of those that raced off the pace, encountering plenty of traffic problems and also running green off the bridle but finishing well; a late foal, he’s open to significant improvement over middle distances in 2016. COLONEL BOSSINGTON (b c Azamour – Ros The Boss) *** Form: 8- Trainer: William Knight Owner: The Expendables 50,000gns half brother to Group 3/Listed-placed triple 6f winner/2000 Guineas fourth Bossy Guest who debuted in a 6f maiden at Newmarket (July) last August (33/1 chance), slowly into stride and running green in rear, making a promising forward move on the outer between the two and one furlong markers but unable to sustain his effort, fading inside the final furlong to come home eighth of 10 behind Taneen (beaten 8 lengths). This colt will rate a fair bit better than his debut showing in due course, unable to sustain a promising challenge and considerately handled thereafter in a race that worked out nicely; open to improvement in his second season, he will stay at least 7f. FORGE (b c Dubawi – Heat Haze) **** Form: 7- Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Owner: Khalid Abdullah Full brother to Listed-placed UK/US 7-8.5f winner Radiator out of a very smart French/US 7-10f winner (including twice at Grade 1 level) who was closely related to Banks Hill, Cacique, Champs Elysees, Dansili and Intercontinental. This well-bred colt made his debut outing in a 7f maiden at Newmarket (July) last August (7/2 chance), racing in behind the leaders until pushed along and losing his position over two furlongs out, ridden and keeping on inside the final furlong to take seventh behind Tashweeq (beaten 7½ lengths). His prominent market position says a lot about the regard in which he is held by top connections, simply not ready to justify that confidence on the day, rather caught cold as the tempo increased; above-average improvement anticipated in 2016, when he’ll stay 1m. GIRLING (b f Rock Of Gibraltar – Gravitation) **** Form: 2- Trainer: Ralph Beckett Owner: Lady Howard de Walden Half sister to Listed-placed 7-10f winner Gibeon out of a 14f 3yo Group 3 winning daughter of a half sister to Irish Derby/Ascot Gold Cup winner Fame And Glory, Listed-placed 7-12f winner Grampian and to the dam of Legatissimo. This filly’s sole outing to date came in a 7f fillies’ maiden at Salisbury last October (8/1 chance), waited with in midfield and ridden two furlongs out, making steady but sustained progress throughout the final furlong to take second close home behind Dutch Destiny (beaten 1 length). This daughter of Rock Of Gibraltar’s pedigree is geared towards middle distances and she shaped in kind on debut, only really hitting top stride as the line approached; hailing from a stable that excels with its fillies, she’s open to above-average improvement this season. GOLDMEMBER (ch c New Approach – Sister Act) **** Form: 8- Trainer: David Simcock Owner: Qatar Racing Limited 300,000gns half brother to very smart 8-10f winner (including at Group 1 level) Ribbons out of a 1m 3yo winning sister to very smart miler Soviet Song and a half sister to useful 5-6f winner Baralinka and Triumph Hurdle winner Penzance. This colt made his debut outing in a big-field 1m maiden at Newbury last October (12/1 chance), steadied at the start and racing in rear, pushed along over two furlongs out and staying on well throughout the final furlong to come home eighth of 17 behind Midterm (beaten 4½ lengths). There was plenty to like about this well-related son of New Approach’s debut effort, doing his best work at the finish under a mainly hands-and-heels ride; above-average improvement anticipated in his second season, when he ought to find 10f comfortably within range. GREAT ORDER (b/br c Distorted Humor – Michita) ***** Form: 4- Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor Owner: Godolphin Half brother to 8-9.5f winner Thatchmaster out of a Group 1-placed 8-12f winner (including at Group 2/Listed level) who was a sister to smart 10.5-14f winner (including at Listed level) Willing Foe and a half sister to smart 8-11f AW winner (including at Group 3 level) Cat O’Mountain. This colt’s only outing at two came in a 7f maiden at Newmarket last September (9/4 favourite), racing in midfield and shaken up over two furlongs out, staying on strongly inside the final furlong to take fourth close home behind Crazy Horse (beaten 2½ lengths). He seemed to find things happening a little too quickly on debut, for which he was strong in the market beforehand; this colt has all the attributes, from pedigree to physique, to make up into an extremely useful performer in 2016; will stay at least 1m. HARZAND (br c Sea The Stars – Hazariya) ***** Form: 5- Trainer: Dermot Weld Owner: H H Aga Khan Half brother to 7f 2yo Group 3 winner Harasiya, 12f 3yo Listed winner Hazarafa and Group 3/Listed-placed dual 10f 3yo winner Haziyna, out of a smart 7-9.5f winner (including at Group 3/Listed level) who was a half sister to 10f 3yo Group 3 winner Hazarista. This colt debuted in a 1m maiden at Gowran Park last September (11/4 chance), in rear after a slow start and ridden over two furlongs out, running green but keeping on well inside the final furlong to take fifth behind Newsman (beaten 4¼ lengths). This son of Sea The Stars was held back by inexperience on debut (notably strong in the market beforehand), poorly placed at the top of the straight and merely closing up late; from a successful family, it will only be when this colt tackles 10f+ that he’ll reveal the true extent of his capabilities. HIGH SHIELDS (b c Shamardal – Marine City) **** Form: 82– Trainer: Roger Charlton Owner: Michael Pescod 100,000gns purchase who finished eighth of 10 on debut in a 7f maiden at Ascot last September, in rear and unable to go with the principals once the tempo lifted. He took a sizeable step forward in a 1m maiden at Kempton three months later (7/2 chance), waited with and pushed along two furlongs out, staying on strongly throughout the final furlong to take a 2-length second behind Graceful James. A steadily-run race last time was never going to see this son of Shamardal to best effect, his pedigree geared towards stamina (dam a half sister to Arc winner Marienbard); also having plenty about him physically, there should be a fair bit more to come from this colt once faced with 10f+. IN THE CITY (ch c Exceed And Excel – Soft Morning) **** Form: 4- Trainer: William Haggas Owner: Simon Munir & Isaac Souede 100,000gns half brother to Listed-placed 6f 2yo winner So In Love and Listed-placed 7f 2yo winner Savanna La Mar, out of a French 9.5f 3yo Listed winning half sister to 12f Listed winner Souvenance and 1m 2yo Listed winner Songerie. This colt’s sole outing to date came in a 7f maiden at Newmarket (July) last August (14/1 chance), racing in touch on the outer, shaken up over two furlongs out and running green, getting the the hang of things inside the final furlong as he ran on into fourth behind Emotionless (beaten 4¾ lengths). He was quite clearly held back by inexperience, outpaced initially but going on strongly once hitting the rising ground; not been seen since, but the form of that debut race has worked out well and above-average improvement anticipated this season; will stay 1m. MAGNUM (gr g Lawman – Coventina) *** Form: 32- Trainer: Brian Meehan Owner: Manton Thoroughbreds 47,000gns half brother to very useful 9-12f winner Conduct who shaped promisingly in a pair of 1m maidens at Salisbury and Newbury last autumn, responding well for pressure and strongest at the finish on both occasions, run down late last time by a potentially smart performer in Midterm (form of that race that is working out nicely). Both his pedigree and performances to date suggest this gelding will be seen to greater effect once faced with middle distances in his second season, perhaps even further (his dam a winner up to 2m); the type to flourish in handicaps at three, he ought to make his mark at a useful level in that sphere once qualified for a mark. MIGHTY LEGEND (b c Shamardal – Angels Story) **** Form: 5- Trainer: Michael Halford Owner: John Connaughton Second foal of a useful 10-10.5f winning half sister to high-class Irish 6.5f-1m winner (including twice at Group 3 level) Dunboyne Express/Hong Kong triple 8/10f Group 1 winner Dan Excel (by Shamardal) out of a once-raced maiden half sister to Oaks winner Love Divine. This nicely-bred colt’s debut outing came in a 1m maiden at Leopardstown last October (8/1 chance), racing in midfield and pushed along over two furlongs out, ridden and staying on well down the outside throughout the final furlong to take fifth behind Tirmizi (beaten 5 lengths). He wasn’t best placed in a race where it paid to be close to action, finishing off strongly inside the final furlong; open to above-average improvement in his second season, he’ll stay 10f without too many problems. POET’S WORD (b c Poet’s Voice – Whirly Bird) **** Form: 4- Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Owner: Saeed Suhail 300,000gns half brother to high-class 7f-1m winner (including twice at Group 3 level) Malabar, useful 10-11.5f winner Clowance Estate and useful 12f-2m winner Royal Signaller, out of a Listed-placed 9.5-11f winning half sister to 14f 3yo Group 3 winner Ursa Major. This colt’s sole outing to date came in a 7f maiden at Newmarket last October (16/1 chance), waited with in midfield and ridden over two furlongs out, decidedly green off the bridle but getting the hang of things entering the final furlong and staying on well to take fourth behind Mootaharer (beaten 5 lengths). This son of Poet’s Voice was only just getting rolling as the line approached, subjected to nothing more than a hands-and-heels ride to close up late; open to major improvement in 2016, he’ll stay 1m at the very least. SATISH (b c Dansili – Maycocks Bay) ***** Form: 4- Trainer: John Gosden Owner: Lady Bamford Half brother to dual Oaks winner Sariska who debuted in a 7f maiden at Ascot last September (easy-to-back 16/1 chance), slowly into stride and in rear, shaken up and eased out approaching the two furlong marker, switched right and staying on well inside the final furlong to take fourth behind Culturati (beaten 2¾ lengths). It was a highly encouraging debut effort from this son of Dansili, not seen to best advantage over a wholly inadequate trip, forced to begin his challenge from a long way back and not enjoying the clearest of runs but closing in at the finish. This colt’s pedigree points to significant improvement once his stamina needs are better catered for, likely to stay at least 10f; a good-looking sort, he has the basic ingredients to make up into a really useful performer in time. SEPTEMBER STARS (ch f Sea The Stars – Altesse Imperiale) **** Form: 3- Trainer: Brian Meehan Owner: Andrew Rosen & Edward Easton 260,000gns half sister to Group 1-placed 7f 2yo winner Altruistic and 11.5f 3yo winner Pitchoun, out of a 9.5f 3yo winning close relation to French 10.5f 3yo Group 2 winner Actrice and a half sister to US 9/9.5f Grade 1 winner Angara. This filly made her debut outing in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Doncaster last October (10/1 chance), waited with in last place and still there when shaken up inside the two furlong marker, making eyecatching progress throughout the final furlong to come home in third behind Zest (beaten 1 length). It was an extremely promising first effort from this well-related daughter of Sea The Stars, conceding both experience and first run to the front two, hopelessly placed in a steadily-run affair; open to plenty of improvement in her second season, she will stay 10f. SHABEEB (b c Smart Strike – Sortita) **** Form: 6- Trainer: Roger Varian Owner: Hamdan Al Maktoum Half brother to Group 2-placed 8-10f winner Mutashaded and 7f 2yo winner Baarez, out of a 9.5-10.5f winning sister to very smart 11f-2m winner (including five times at Group 1 level) Schiaparelli, high-class German 7.5-12f winner (including twice at Group 1 level) Samum and to the dam of Sea The Moon. This well-bred colt debuted in a 1m maiden at Newbury last October (5/1 chance), waited with in midfield and travelling fluently, shaken up two furlongs out and keeping on well inside the final furlong to finish sixth behind Midterm (beaten 3½ lengths). He shaped as though the one-mile trip on debut was a barely adequate test, hardly surprising considering his pedigree; a sizeable sort who will need at least 10f to be seen to best effect, this colt is open to above-average improvement in 2016. TO BE WILD (br c Big Bad Bob – Fire Up) ***** Form: 5- Trainer: Hugo Palmer Owner: Carmichael Jennings €87,000 second foal of a maiden half sister to Al Kazeem who debuted in a 1m maiden at Newmarket last September (33/1 chance), pulling hard in rear and pushed along in last place passing halfway, getting the idea inside the two furlong marker and staying on well throughout the final furlong to take fifth behind Mustajeer (beaten 8½ lengths). It was a highly encouraging first effort from this stoutly-bred colt, showing obvious signs of inexperience throughout but finishing off strongly once the penny dropped; in excellent hands and bred for middle distances, this son of Big Bad Bob’s improvement during his second season is likely to be swift and pronounced. ULYSSES (ch c Galileo – Light Shift) ***** Form: 6- Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Owner: Flaxman Stables Ireland Ltd Half brother to useful 11.5-12f 3yo winner Dr Yes out of an Oaks winning half sister to 10.5f Group 1 winner Shiva and high-class French 10.5-12f winner (including twice at Group 2 level) Limnos. This colt’s debut outing came in a 1m maiden at Newbury last October (4/1 chance), settled into last place until shaken up and making progress approaching the two furlong marker, staying on well throughout the final furlong to come home in sixth behind Algometer (beaten 2¾ lengths). It was an eyecatching debut effort from this well-related son of Galileo, set plenty to do and keeping on well under hand riding; will be seen to much better effect over middle distances in 2016. HANDICAPS ALGOMETER (gr c Archipenko – Albanova) ***** Form: 41- Trainer: David Simcock Owner: Miss Kirsten Rausing Half brother to French triple 10/10.5f Listed winner All At Sea who caught the eye in no uncertain terms on debut in a 1m 1f maiden at Goodwood last October (10/1 chance), steadied from the stalls and racing in last place, still there when shaken up three furlongs out but making sustained progress from over a furlong to take fourth behind Harrison (beaten 4¾ lengths). He confirmed the high promise of that debut effort when landing a 1m maiden at Newbury 12 days later (11/4 favourite), prominent from the outset and leading over two furlongs out, responding well for pressure to hold off all comers and score by ¾ length from Victory Bond. This well-related colt is bred to excel over middle distances, seeing things out strongly last time; type to progress right through the handicap ranks and into pattern-class company one day, certainly bred to be smart. BLAKENEY POINT (b g Sir Percy – Cartoon) *** Form: 006– Trainer: Roger Charlton Owner: Axom LX Full brother to 12f Group 2 winner Lady Tiana who beat only one rival home in maidens at Salisbury (7f) and Nottingham (1m) last autumn, but he fared a good deal better when sixth of 13 in a 1m median auction maiden at Kempton on his third start, tapped-for-toe at the two furlong marker and not given an overly hard time thereafter. There’s a very good chance that this well-related sort will prove a totally different proposition in his second season, gelded over the winter and allotted a lowly opening mark of 65 for handicap company; will stay 10f at the very least. BRONTE FLYER (ch f Nayef – Shohrah) **** Form: 1- Trainer: Ann Duffield Owner: Yorkshire Rose Partnership Half sister to 8.5f 2yo winner Shaayeq who made a winning start to her career in a 1m maiden at Carlisle last September (14/1 chance), waited with in midfield and travelling fluently, shaken up well over a furlong out and making good progress on the outer, taking over entering the final furlong and driven out to score by ¾ length from Good Run. There was a lot to like about this filly’s debut performance, travelling well and making up ground easily before only having to be punched out to settle matters. The runner-up has won both starts since (including a nursery off 84) whilst the fourth was successful on nursery debut off 72 next time, so it’d be somewhat surprising were this filly unable to make a significant impact in handicaps from an initial mark of 77; ought to stay 10f. CARTWRIGHT (b g High Chaparral – One So Marvellous) **** Form: 595– Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott Owner: John Pearce 160,000gns half brother to 8/10f Listed winner Coquet who shaped with lots of promise on debut when staying on strongly into fifth in a 7f maiden at Redcar last November, but he finished down the field over the same distance at Wolverhampton 10 days later before signing off with a fifth place finish in a 1m maiden at Southwell a further couple of weeks on. This son of High Chaparral was only ever liable to show his very best once tackling middle distances this term, and, from a lowly opening mark of 57, looks type to make an immediate impact in handicap company; has all the hallmarks of an archetypal second-season improver from this stable; gelded since last seen. CHESTER STREET (b c Invincible Spirit – Expressive) **** Form: 71– Trainer: Roger Charlton Owner: H R H Sultan Ahmed Shah 70,000gns half brother to very useful sprinter Don’t Touch who caught the eye on debut in a 7f maiden at Leicester last September (50/1 chance), in rear and exhibiting signs of inexperience throughout, ridden over a furlong out and staying on nicely to take seventh behind Move Up (beaten 2¾ lengths). He duly built on that initial promise when landing a 7f maiden at Kempton a month later (8/11 market leader), tracking the leader and travelling well, ridden over a furlong out and taking a while to find top stride but doing so close home to nab Cabinet Room on the line and score by a nose. This colt still showed his inexperience last time, taking a while to get organised having travelled best but responding well for pressure to lead on the post; that will only have aided his development and, from an initial mark of 78, this son of Invincible Spirit is very much one to follow in 7f/1m handicaps in 2016. CONSTANTINO (b c Danehill Dancer – Messias Da Silva) **** Form: 91- Trainer: Richard Fahey Owner: Sir Robert Ogden Three-parts brother to very smart 7f-1m winner (including twice at Group 1 level) Amazing Maria (by Mastercraftsman) who merely closed up late in a valuable 7f maiden at York on debut last August, showing the benefit for that experience when landing a 7f maiden at Ayr the following month (5/6 favourite), keen in front and joined approaching the two furlong marker but responding well for pressure to prevail by a neck from Weekend Offender. This colt will likely to prove a totally different proposition this time around, still looking to have something to learn last time and sure to rate better than the bare form; an opening mark of 80 looks none too taxing where handicaps are concerned, open to above-average improvement after all; will stay 1m. D’NIRO (br c Big Bad Bob – Causeway Charm) **** Form: 51– Trainer: Harry Dunlop Owner: Weston Brook Farm Bromfield & Partner €75,000 half brother to Group 3-placed 6-7f 2yo winner Lily Rules who shaped with promise on debut in a 7f maiden at Doncaster last October (12/1 chance), waited with in midfield and pushed along two furlongs out, keeping on well for considerate handling inside the final furlong to take fifth behind Royal Artillery (beaten 8¾ lengths). He showed the benefit for that experience when landing a 1m median auction maiden at Kempton the following month (3/1 chance), very keen and soon building up a healthy advantage, briefly looking vulnerable two furlongs out but kicking on again soon after and staying on well to score by 2¾ lengths from Imperial Aviator. For this colt to maintain the advantage given his refusal to settle was meritorious, hardly likely to have been seen to best effect; an opening mark of 78 looks to underestimate him, by some way in all likelihood; may prove best sticking at/around 1m. FREE PASSAGE (ch g Medicean – Free Offer) ***** Form: 900- Trainer: Henry Candy Owner: The Earl Cadogan Half brother to smart triple 1m winner (including at Listed level) Cape Peron who contested a trio of 7f maidens at both Newmarket courses at two, fading from prominence when ninth of 11 to Emotionless on the July course last August before coming home 13th of 16 to Tashweeq over the same course and distance three weeks later. His third and final outing came on the Rowley Mile last October (40/1 chance), dropped in at the back of the far side group, shaken up two furlongs out and not in any way subjected to a hard time as he came home 11th of 13 to Chelsea Lad (beaten 5 lengths). He has clearly been brought along steadily with handicaps in mind, allocated a potentially very lenient mark of 68 and liable to come good in a big way in that sphere; will stay at least 1m; gelded since last seen. LAST TANGO INPARIS (ch f Aqlaam – Strictly Lambada) **** Form: 31- Trainer: Hughie Morrison Owner: Helena Springfield Ltd Half sister to fairly useful 10-14f 3yo winner Sleep Easy who shaped very well on debut in a 1m 1f maiden at Goodwood last October (33/1 chance), waited with towards the rear of the field and shaken up over two furlongs out, staying on strongly throughout the final furlong to take third behind Harrison (beaten 1¾ lengths). She duly built on that debut promise when landing a heavy-ground 1m fillies’ maiden at Newbury 13 days later (4/1 chance), tanking along close up and moving through to lead two furlongs out, staying on well inside the final furlong to score by 1¾ lengths from High Hopes. The testing conditions clearly brought out the best in this stoutly-bred filly, travelling smoothly and only needing to be kept up to her work to maintain the advantage; above-average progress anticipated once faced with 10f+ in handicaps this term. LORD GEORGE (gr c Sir Percy – Mahima) **** Form: 31– Trainer: James Fanshawe Owner: Fred Archer Racing – Bend Or €25,000 half brother to French 8-9.5f winner Persiste Et Singe who caught the eye amidst greenness on debut when staying on into third behind In The Red in a 1m median auction maiden at Salisbury last September, considerately handled and closest at the finish. He showed the benefit for that initial outing when landing an 8.5f auction maiden at Wolverhampton the following month (4/5 favourite), going easily in behind the leaders but short of room on the approach to the straight, shaken up to lead inside the final 150 yards and merely nudged out to score by a neck from Hepplewhite. This colt’s superiority on the day wasn’t done full justice by the eventual margin of victory, asked for nothing more than the bare minimum in order to master the runner-up; an opening mark of 81 looks fair and there ought to be fair bit more to come from this son of Sir Percy in 2016, when he ought to stay 10f. MAINSTREAM (b c Dansili – Golden Stream) **** Form: 41- Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute Owner: The Queen Second foal of a dual 7f Listed winning half sister to Oaks runner-up Flight Of Fancy who shaped encouragingly on debut in a 7f maiden at Leicester last September (33/1 chance), waited with in behind the leaders and ridden over two furlongs out, keeping on nicely inside the final furlong to take fourth behind Move Up (beaten 2 lengths). He duly built on that debut promise when landing a 1m maiden at Nottingham a month later (8/15 favourite), pulling very hard throughout but moving to the lead over a furlong out and keeping on well, scoring by 2½ lengths from Kuantan. This son of Dansili will need to curb his keen-going tendencies if he’s to fulfil his undoubted potential, the hood doing little to relax him last time; highly likely a mark of 81 underestimates him and, if proving more amenable to restraint, this colt can make up into a very useful performer in 2016; may prove best suited by 7f/1m. MARYLEBONE (b c Shamardal – Mary Boleyn) ***** Form: 61– Trainer: Ed Walker Owner: Chasemore Farm 80,000gns second foal of a full sister to very useful multiple 6f winner Kaldoun Kingdom who hinted at ability on debut in a 7f maiden at Leicester last October (11/2 chance), close up and pushed along two furlongs out, fading from over a furlong out as he came home in sixth behind Vincent’s Forever (beaten 6¾ lengths). He showed the benefit for that outing when landing a 7f maiden at Kempton a month later (5/1 chance), tracking the leader and ridden two furlongs out, catching a bump soon after but staying on well to lead inside the final 75 yards and score by ¾ length from Cape Banjo. He is a sizeable sort who showed a good attitude for pressure last time to get the job done, and an opening mark of 82 looks a fair starting point where handicaps are concerned; will stay 1m. OUT AND ABOUT (b g Fastnet Rock – Starship) ***** Form: 41- Trainer: William Haggas Owner: The Starship Partnership Close relation to Irish 10f 3yo Group 3 winner Alexander Pope (by Danehill Dancer) and useful 7f-1m winner Bilimbi (by Duke Of Marmalade) who caught the eye with his finishing effort on debut in a decent 7f maiden at Newbury last August (25/1 chance), coming home in fourth behind Justice Law (beaten 6¾ lengths). He duly confirmed that debut promise when taking a 7f maiden at Redcar a couple of months later (11/10 market leader), in midfield until making smooth progress on the outer two furlongs out, leading entering the final furlong and staying on well to see off Colour Me Happy by 1¼ lengths. This son of Fastnet Rock appeals as the type to do very well in handicaps this term from an initial mark of 84, likely to reach a smart level in that sphere; will want 1m+; gelded since last seen. PURPLE RAVEN (b f Poet’s Voice – Juniper Girl) **** Form: 466- Trainer: Michael Bell Owner: Mark Hawtin Half sister to 10-13f Flat/triple 2m hurdle winner Forced Family Fun who hinted at ability in a trio of outings last term, merely plugging on having raced prominently in a pair of 1m fillies’ maidens at Haydock and Nottingham before finishing sixth in a 7f fillies’ maiden at Newmarket last November, caught wide and soon left behind once the tempo lifted passing the two furlong marker. The very best of this filly won’t be seen until the emphasis is firmly on stamina, out of connections’ Northumberland Plate winner Juniper Girl whose first two foals needed at least 10f to get off the mark; a move into handicap company from an opening mark of 69 will see her in a much better light. SENNOCKIAN SONG (ch c New Approach – Chorist) *** Form: 070– Trainer: Mark Johnston Owner: The Vine Accord 52,000gns three-parts brother to high-class 10-14f winner (including at Group 2/Listed level) Gospel Choir (by Galileo) and a half brother to connections’ smart 7-10.5f winner (including at Listed level) Sennockian Star, out of a 10f Group 1 winner. This colt hasn’t yet come close to living up to his classy pedigree in a trio of outings, unfancied and beating just a handful of rivals home in maidens at Nottingham, Chelmsford (both 1m) and Kempton (7f) within a month of each other last autumn, albeit shaped better than the bare result the last twice (caught wide latest). An opening mark of 71 doesn’t look overly generous all things considered, but this colt is surely capable of better than he’s shown so far with his pedigree alone pointing to improvement this season; should find 10f well within range. SHAFAFYA (b f Shamardal – Tanaghum) **** Form: 045– Trainer: Ed Dunlop Owner: Hamdan Al Maktoum Half sister to 14f Group 3 winner Tactic and French 12f 3yo Listed winner Yaazy who showed varying degrees of promise in a trio of outings at two, stepping up markedly on her debut effort when fourth to Stoney Broke in a 1m fillies’ maiden at Nottingham last September, trapped in behind runners in a slowly-run affair and getting out too late. She signed off with a fifth place finish in a similar event at Kempton a little over a month later (one paced), but her pedigree and physique (tall, strong sort) point to improvement in her second season; an opening mark of 73 allows her to start out at a realisitic level in handicaps, and she’ll likely thrive once faced with 10f+ in that sphere. TOP BEAK (b c Lawman – Tree Tops) ***** Form: 1- Trainer: Hughie Morrison Owner: Michael Kerr-Dineen & Martin Hughes 80,000gns half brother to 10-10.5f winner Snowmane and French 8-15f Flat/2m 4f hurdle winner Martial Law who made a winning start to his career in an 8.5f maiden at Windsor last October (25/1 chance), leading until ridden and headed over furlong out, responding well for pressure to regain the lead inside the final 75 yards and score by a head from Mountain Bell. This colt showed an excellent attitude to get back up and score having been headed, shaping like one that will stay well in time, bred for middle distances after all; open to significant improvement in his second season, he should prove a force to be reckoned with in handicaps to begin with. TOTALLY COMMITTED (b c Invincible Spirit – Zanzibar) *** Form: 007- Trainer: Clive Cox Owner: Con Harrington 100,000gns half brother to high-class 8.5-12f winner (including at Grade 2/3 level) Spice Route and very useful UAE dual 7f winner Zurbriggen who was down the field in a trio of maidens at Newbury (1m), Leicester and Newmarket (both 7f) last term, offering little promise on debut but considerately handled when fading from prominence the next twice. He was quite clearly ridden with a view to gaining both experience and a favourable mark with which to go handicapping, handed an official rating of 69; type to fare much better in that sphere in 2016; should stay 1m. VINCENT’S FOREVER (b c Pour Moi – Glen Rosie) ***** Form: 1- Trainer: John Gosden Owner: Robin Geffen & Peter Bennett-Jones €85,000 three-parts brother to useful 10-10.5f winner Milne Graden and smart 5-10f Flat (including at Listed level)/high-class 2m-2m 1f hurdle (including at Grade 2/Listed level) winner Kings Quay (both by Montjeu) and a half brother to Listed-placed 9.5-11f winner Fastback. This colt made a winning start to his career in a 7f maiden at Leicester last October (3/1 favourite, hooded), keen close up until pushed along and losing his position at halfway, responding well over a furlong out and finishing off strongly to lead at the furlong marker and run out a comfortable 1¼-length winner from You’re Fired. This son of Pour Moi is bred to excel with time and distance, so that he was able to make a winning start over seven furlongs is praiseworthy, well on top at the finish; very good prospect who is unlikely to waste too much time in climbing the handicap ranks and into better company. WEST DRIVE (ch c Sea The Stars – Fair Sailing) **** Form: 952- Trainer: Roger Varian Owner: H R H Sultan Ahmed Shah 100,000gns half brother to Group 3/Listed-placed 1m 2yo winner Montalcino and Listed-placed 6-7f winner Windfast who improved with each outing at two, running green and never involved in a 1m maiden at Nottingham on debut last October but offering much more when fifth of 15 to Algometer in a similar event at Newbury three weeks later. He signed off with a second place finish to Good Trip back at Nottingham (1m) a couple of weeks later, close up and travelling well, leading passing the two furlong marker but headed inside the final furlong and coming home ¾ length adrift at the line. This colt laid some solid foundations last autumn for a handicapping campaign this time around, handed an appealing opening mark of 79 for that sphere; will stay further than 1m. UNRACED There are always those that fail to make it to the track at two for one reason or another. Listed below is a selection of well-bred and/or highly-regarded, unraced three-year-olds worth noting for the 2016 Flat season. John Gosden has his usual battalion of well-connected sorts to unleash this term, chief among them: Eyeshine (27/2 b f Dubawi – Casual Look), a $1,450,000 half sister to US 1m 1f Grade 3 winner Casual Smile, useful UAE 8-10f winner Mushreq and two other winners, out of an Oaks winner; Fallen For Another (19/3 b c Dansili – Fallen Star), a full brother to Coronation Stakes winner Fallen For You and a half brother to smart 7-10f winner (including at Listed level) Fallen Idol and Group 2/Listed-placed 1m 2yo winner Fallen In Love, out of a 1m Listed winner who was a half sister to Lockinge winner Fly To The Stars; To Eternity (8/3 b f Galileo – All’s Forgotten), a full sister to 13f 3yo Group 3 winner Shantaram, Group 3-placed 12-14f 3yo winner (including at Listed level) Forever Now and Irish 1m 2yo winner/2000 Guineas third Gan Amhras, out of an Irish 8.5f 3yo winner; and Wings Of Desire (20/2 ch c Pivotal – Gull Wing), a full brother to King Edward winner/King George runner-up Eagle Top and Park Hill winner/Oaks third The Lark, out of a 14f Listed winning half sister to dual Oaks winner Sariska (by Pivotal). Dermot Weld has a particularly interesting pair of unraced fillies worth noting for the forthcoming campaign: Asmeen (9/2 b f Shamardal – Askeria), a half sister to 1m 3yo winner Ashraf out of a maiden close relation to very smart 7-12f winner (including four times at Group 1 level)/2000 Guineas third Azamour and a half sister to Irish 7f 2yo Group 3 winner Arazan out of an Irish 10f 3yo Listed winner; and Discipline (26/5 b f Dansili – Fame At Last), a full sister to very smart prolific 6-10f winner (including 13 times at Group 2/3 level) Famous Name and smart 7-7.5f winner (including twice at Group 3 level)/Irish 1000 Guineas fourth Big Break and a half sister to Group 3-placed 7-10f winner (including at Listed level) Zaminast and five other winners, out of a 7f 2yo winner. Charlie Appleby is another handler well stocked with unraced talent this term, two in particular catching the eye: Dance Rock (17/2 b c Oasis Dream – Zee Zee Top), a 625,000gns half brother to very smart 9-10.5f winner (including twice at Group 1 level)/Oaks third Izzi Top and Group 1-placed 8-10f winner (including at Group 2/Listed level) Jazzi Top, out of a 10f Group 1 winning half sister to Ascot Gold Cup winner Kayf Tara and King George winner Opera House; and Lusory (12/2 b c Shamardal – Playful Act), a three-parts brother to US 10f Grade 2 winner Giants Play (by Giant’s Causeway) and a half brother to US 12f Grade 3 winner Anjaz and 1m AW Listed winner Tearless, out of a Fillies’ Mile winning three-parts sister to King George winner Nathaniel and Irish Oaks winner Great Heavens.
