Advice to get started

Recommended Posts

Writing software is always something I've fancied having a go at. I've tried several times to make a start, but my efforts have always fizzled out after a reasonable start.

I've had a play with various incarnations of Basic and had a go with C, but haven't touched any of the Visual stuff or C++$$££"^&*$$ (or whatever it's called).

Can anyone point me in the right direction for something straightforward to get going with, that will output something I can use on a modern pc without having to open a dos window to get to run?

Who knows, I might be able to come up with something useful!! :)
