Minty
Back again: http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/3929315/searchTerm/Fire+Tv.htm £30 Amazon Fire TV Stick with Voice 450/9143 £34.99 http://www.argos.co.uk/m/static/Product/partNumber/4509143/searchTerm/Fire+Tv.htm
Snuffs99
i have a firetv stick and totally agree they are a great bit of kit to run kodi off BUT personally if i were to buy at this moment in time i'd put the £30 towards a box that can do the h.265 codec.....a good few films and tv stuff is moving over to h.265 now so IMHO to buy a stick which does not support it is a waste fo money. Only have to look at torrent and Nzb's sites to see the way its going.
Minty
What box have you got your eye on snuffs?
Snuffs99
tbh mate i was thinking along the lines of either the shield or the firetv box, both support h.265 but i think the shield may be better for me as i have a nice gaming PC with 970 gfx etc so would work well with streaming games....i know both are at least double the price than the firetv stick but if your in the market for a stick you may as well go the extra £40 and get the firetv box IMHO, least you knwo it'll be good for a few years. Minty
I was thinking of the fire TVs box, just waiting for Tesco to swap points over and get it cheaper [emoji6]
Minty
Just brought one, wanted to see the difference between fire tv and stick. I know fire to is 2g memory and stick is 1g. Wanted to find out if the streams buffer on both devices or just stick. And main reason is to help advise you all [emoji6]

Boycie
I can understand going for the Nvidia Shield but Id give Firesticks a miss now especially with Amazon updating the firmware to stop folk from loading Kodi. Also with how cheap Android boxes have become now, and yes you have to do your homework on the best available but the pice of some of the are the same as Firesticks of Fire TV. And most people throw away android phones with more power than a Firestick or Fire TV just stick Kodi on one of them and plug it in to the TV it would do the job better. To be fair i was talking about the FireTV 2 which by all accounts is a very good system...BUT for me personally it seems a lot of money on something i'm literally only going to use for Kodi. Which is where the shield comes into it, i play games on PC so it makes sense to pay the extra and utilise the gaming side of the shield along with my gfx card..plus i can use it to run kodi at fast speeds. However i then think "i don't really have spare shield cash laying about" and even if i did woudl i actually use it to its potential etc? .. given i prety much live on my PC, well you can see the point in my thinking.....a smoke helps with the thinking process but i've currently got one eye closed to focus and its taken me an age to write this after all the dyslexic fingers got going.
