jakdos
First of all, come on guys, settle the differences and go back to one forum. I'm sure the vision is there and a small amount of humble pie can be eaten between friends for the greater good? I am trying to watch the 1080p SPARKS version of Spectre. Started trying to use DS Video app from my Synology, but the forced subs do not show on the TV. If I use VLC on the PC, the subtitles appear fine. Tried using various other methods of streaming, but still cannot get the subs to show. Tried streaming to Amazon firestick but same problem. Thought back to when Mik25 told me I was stuck in the dark ages, so started Kodi up and found a 1080p source but the subs still don't show. Looking to see if anyone has any suggestions since I was looking forward to watching tomorrow night ..also posted on modshack

System>Video>Subtitles You must make sure that doesn't say "None", if it does you need to go in there and click on the one you want to enable. If using Genesis the go to Video Addons > Genesis > (Context menu) Addon Settings > Subtitles > Enable Subtitles Hopefully that will sort it for you. Sh4ckles
I haven't watched it yet, I take it from your post there is plenty of non English dialogue then? I watched The Martian recently and although there was a need for some subs at one point it never really ruined the film for me not knowing what was said. Not saying subs are no good lol just asking if they are really necessary for Spectre so I know what to expect.
jakdos
Ended up going back in time and hooking up the laptop to TV and watched via VLC. You will need the subs, and although they are only needed for a short while, you need them. Didn't try Kodi, but will check it out before I try other films.
