Some time ago, on a forum called modshack, HM and some other members were arrested, had their houses turned upside down, and ended up doing time inside for posting hacking related information on that forum. Set-top box modders sent to prison Set-top box hackers sentenced to prison Hackers cost TV companies £1.6m We as staff had to act quickly closing the forum and deleting the DB. No one knows if the DB was deleted quickly enough. In what I can only guess is an act of desperation, H has decided to reopen the modshack name, under modshack.net. (H if your reading this you have sacrificed enough already, your fucking mad!) You as users of our old forum datacave, need to know that he has imported the old DB (the one that was beyond repair) and you are now registered on modshack whether you like it or not. Modshack run by H, is going to get a lot of unwanted attention. I have asked for my account to be de-modded and banned. If you would like me to try and facilitate something similar for you, (from a modshack admin i'm in touch with) you may either pm me, or reply to this thread, or log into modshack and delete your own account yourself. This hasn't been posted to try and get at anyone, or cause a forum war. This post is here, because we owe a duty of care to our members, to let them know of potential problems they may face. There is no members list mate you'll have to email admin on there and see if they can sort it for you.....have you tried to recover your password via email option?? I'm typing in my password on a site I've not signed up to and now I'm thinking what a great way to harvest passwords. Snuffs99 Posted January 14, 2016 Share Posted January 14, 2016 AFAIK mate yes its legit and yes H is running it...not sure on the database etc but all the old threads and posts and members seem to be there, if its like Fonsays and its an older database you may have to use an older password (assuming you had one). To be perfectly honest I don't see a big issue - we were all regged over there. What data is compromised exactly ? What have we been allowed to post over at DC or even the last year of modshack ? Nothing that would lead to your front door I wouldn't have thought. Passwords ? Usernames ? Well some of us have regged her with same usernames, I would like to think most of us who would visit this or any other forum similar are savvy enough to use different passwords. I must admit to feeling a little sad when I saw this thread as I think it just drags up old wounds that need not be dragged up. Everyone is entitled to do whatever they want at the end of the day, Cmon guys lets not turn this into a us/them. We are talking about people that have at various stages given a lot for us mere members to post/share and even receive the odd freebie. I do hope this turns out well for both forums and maybe we could end up super busy on both places. I am same as some others as to the fact that i was not aware of what was going on (Im not a member of the facebook group) but what's done is done. Because Its going to be on people's radars. They are going to be watching it a lot! Now imagine a user who only joined the cave, and had no knowledge of the history, but had asked or at some point posted a link to some iptv service that hosted ilegal content. Previously on the cave they were off the radar, but now, a post they made from 6 months ago, is now on the radar, and they are NOT aware of it. I feel a personal duty of care, to let everyone know they are now on the radar for anything they had posted on DC. This has happened without their permission or even knowledge. I truly dont want to divide the comunity, but people need to know! If this had happened to me without my knowledge, I would want to know!, Wouldn't you!?? Fon I would much rather be doing this over a beer lo as on a forum you don't get to post emotions and facial expressions ect. Anyway without babbling on too much I would think the amount of people who would even fall into the category you mention you could count using the fingers of one hand....But I get your point ...a bit. Maybe we should all just move forward with things from here, You have posted your warning, it's done and dusted. I think maybe H could/should have emailed the database users to say the shack or whatever is back online and maybe a bit about what he was thinking about for the future....I honestly don't know how easy/hard that would have been. I think there has been poor communication and both sides at the moment feel aggrieved. As I said im happy to have both places as long as they are around.
