Fon
Average delivery in our house is £15-£20 We normally give them a quid. Is this about right? What do you give them? Fon
Johnner
Don't give 'em anything round our way....bloody restaurants are already charging for delivery ....Otherwise I'd be happy to slip the lads some dosh...
daz2905
Minimum of a pound. Depends on the price of the food, if it comes to £18 i give them £20 and they keep the change. If it's a foreign food like Indian with an Indian driver then i don't tip, like johnner says, they always charge to deliver anyway and i figure the driver is no doubt related to the owner. StonerUK
Usually £1-2 . Worked as a delivery driver for a chinks in my teens and i appreciated the extra tips. So i always make the effort to tip. Tight coonts who never tip always got their food last, or with some food missing lol I'm sure there will be other drivers who do worse [emoji12]

ktv303
£1-2 usually just round it up plus a quid or something. still pay for delivery too. spoke to a guy who delivers for a few local places and he said these just eat type things are losing him up to £200 a week on tips cause if people dont pay at the door theres no much chance of a tip off them. chizh
Usually round up to the next full quid or 2 for most but it does depend on who we get. Local chippy guy always appreciative but one of the guys employed by the kebab shop inflated the price once and he gets fook all whilst his mates will get tipped. A couple of months ago the Domino delivery guy didn't bring/wasn't given a bottle of drink we ordered as a meal deal. He was so apologetic and I said he'd go back and get one. I said it didn't matter that much and let him on his way. 5 mins later the guy turns up with a full 2litre IrnBru he must have bought from the local corner shop cos it's a 15min round trip easy. He's the only Domino guy we tip now.

With Indians takeaways round my way (and going by others posts it's the same where they are) they nearly always keep it in the family. Racist of the Indians not employing whites to drive tbh. Snuffs99
Racist of the Indians not employing whites to drive tbh. I'd totally disagree with that and say its good business sense tbh mate, why pay someone else when a family member could do it. As to the thread question....well if i order to pay cash i'll give a few quid but if i use a card and pay online then no tip i'm afraid. So all white delivery drivers who work for Dominoes or Pizza Hut, are they related to the owners? The fact is that most Indian business do employ family members. i live in Leicestershire the second capital of India so i'm fully aware how local Asian businesses work and i make a conscious decision that when i pay for food with free delivery i tip the poor sod who's working for minimum wage with no job prospects. When i've paid for delivery from a family business i don't feel the need to to tip them. Nothing to do with racism, i pay separate for delivery as part of the deal. The local dominoes and Chinese are the only other fast food i order and delivery is free therefore i feel a tip is more in order. I'm pretty sure that Dominoes and Pizza Hut are franchises and it would be highly unlikely that the delivery driver is related and the Chinese takeaway send some skinny white kid, if he's related then i assume they adopted him. Snuffs99
And that is why people don't like tipping them. [emoji6] Each to their own, i personally feel if the driver has delivered to my door with a smile and a thank you etc then its that that gets them the tip from me, and not the colour of their skin or their relation to the place i ordered from. I will add that if i pay for delivery on the order i wont tip regardless as like daz i feel i've paid the tip in the delivery charge. Maybe that post is missing from my end, for me your posts imply that if its a family member who delivers (i.e ordered Indian and its an Indian delivery driver) you won't tip etc. Apologies if thats not the case.
