  1. looks like its down and off line again. ?
  2. As you have already done I looked everywhere and in all the usual places but nothing, I dont even know anyone who has one I could borrow to backup. Will keep an eye out though. Won't your company supply you with it ? unless your self employed in which case you could buy it and claim tax relief on it as tools.
  3. Registration not yet available, just a heads up page indicating a hopefull New Year Go Live start
  4. I would say that sadly that's the right decision if the database is that far gone you are on a hiding to nothing. No big deal having to re-register again and a bit of a pain starting building the forum topics back into lively discussions but it's been done before. Just dont forget to come back here and keep it going.
  5. Yes I would like to echo the above thoughts with a Merry Christmas to everyone here. Dont let the current state of affairs beat you or get you down, it will get better. My thoughts go out to H and Family, hang in there guys, my very best wishes for the New Year with my sincere hopes it gets better for you all very soon.
  6. I am on Devon / Somerset border and the number of morons towing caravans coming through here yesterday is just unreal, we dont want you bringing your viruses here thank you, and why hasnt the Government made it a legal requirement to wear a face mask anywhere in a public place except while eating or drinking not just while your in a shop, and why havent they forced caravan parks to close to stop this migration of the morons ??
  7. Dont under estimate us older folk daveywavey we still got it, at least if I remember rightly I think we have 🙄 anyway looks like Christmas is now oficially cancelled, it's all changed now with the latest press release from No.10 with a Tier 4 upward change for most of SE England and other places with almost a total lockdown on everything 😥
  8. Nice one, many thanks. Be cool to have an led animation linked to music for any of the festive occassions or just a good party. Also an interesting project to get stuck into.
  9. Sorry to resurrect this old thread but just posted this under Raspberry Pi but just as relevant here: Been looking at some of the terrific Xmas light displays on the net and fancy having a go at this. So need to buy sufficient individually addressible LED strings ( recommendations on what or what not to but ) and already have a Rapberry Pi3B so has anyone here anyone done any of this or have any recommendations or links for idiot proof anim software for the Pi or Arduino board to create an aninamtion of lighting displaty sequence ?.

  12. better to miss one, however painful and dissappointing that may be than run the real risk of never having another one
  13. New test card logo with 18:12:20 on it up now
  14. Just bought an X96Q Max android TV box which seems a pretty good performer considering the price but wondered if anyone has played with firmware updates, stock or modified, or addons or apps for it ?
  15. Thats a tough watch in places but to have actually had to live it well what can you say other than my heart goes out to H for having to endure it. Everything else pales into insignificance.
  16. Thanks for the update and the health and wellbeing of H is the main consideration and although the Shack is badly missed I can wait.
  17. yes i donated as well but same problem
  18. I have been checking back regularly and no further updates since the last one posted some 3 or 4 weeks ago now. Can't find any news anywhere to give an indication of whats happening so as the last update says will just have to trust H to sort it out and get it back up when his situation allows, whenever that might be. With all thats gone on in his life in the last 12 months the Shack must be bottom of his list and we have to respect that. Shame non of the other Mods have picked it up and had a go at getting it back up and running but then maybe that's impossible if the server is based at H's place.
  19. For anyone with a Garmin Zumo 590 this is worth a read through to upgrade it to the Zumo 595 - both have the same hardware just different firmwares, did it on my one on my bike, takes no time at all and works brilliantly and all map updates downloading and installing no problem - carry out at your own risk of course http://forum.gps-expert.nl/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1540
  20. Yes and with a world population of 7.8 billion and every countries governments wanting to buy it it is turning out to be a bumper christmas for the pharmaceutical companies and their shareholders, just wish I had bought into them earlier in the year but I wouldnt have known who was going to deliver on the vaccine back then but I would bet a few traders had a bit of an inside indication.
  21. I know it is is an old topic but checked it out in any case and its still available. Excellent repository for older maps, found an Ordanance Survey one for Devon/Somerset from 1888 and 1903 with brilliant detail even when zoomed right in, many thanks Philmein, great find.
  22. People been watching too many horror and science fiction films where the world population is turned into zombies from taking a vaccine which proves to have devastiting effects after being used and there is too much false information being spread by anti-vac zealot groups with no proof of their claims to back it up. There are multiple testing regimes in place in most of the developed counties in the world working on this vaccine providing as many safeguards as they can against any possible side effects. While i agree that long term effects of the vaccine are obviously unknown any genetic changes after administering the vaccine are covered by the safeguards so should be reasonably relied on, whereas the effects on the population of the world of not having a vaccine are well known. The only unknown at the moment would appear to be how long protection lasts but this is also the case for the Flu vaccine as the Flu virus mutates we have annual vaccination programs to combat it and keeo us safe and save countless lives, and maybe the same will apply to the Covid-18 vaccine. The answer to the original question - yes I would have it, I am in the vulnerable age group with a high chance of dying from it if I become infected so no contest as far as I am concerned but even if I wasn't I would still elect to be vaccinated.
  23. The basics I usually check first are:- Have you deleted everything in the Temp folder Chenge the swap file to a fixed size at the system recommended size Uninstalled any unused applications If its not an SSD drive have you defragged it Have you checked running services and processes in task manager for all users for anything you dont need Run an anti-virus scan
