  4. Not sure if anyone's interested but seems like a lot of the privacy type coins are doing really well at the moment, in fact pretty much all crypto's are taking off like rockets! John McAfee recommended Verge (XVG) a few days back, I bought some in July when it was $0.002 today its $0.15 its actually up 920600.06% since the start of the year when it was something like $0.00001 It was also mentioned in "the sun" newspaper yesterday too. https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/5180704/verge-price-buy-xvg-cruptocurrency-bitcoin/ McAfee also mentioned Dash, and Monero, over
  5. Yep, did the same myself. Was about 6 year ago started building a dimmer controller, that was long before all these new fangled addressable LED's tho. They make the job SOOOOOO much easier now. you could easily knock up a show for about £40 with a couple of esp's and a few strings of LED's.
  6. Crazy thing.. its probably not that much more, or perhaps even cheaper to do this, than buying lights from the local B&Q etc.. The whole show (as of this afternoon) is now running on a raspberry PI (instead of my PC) and an bt home hub 5. Most of the items are controlled by 1 x ESP8266 (£4), except the big tree which I thought I'd use 2, so it updated a little faster. These are programmed with ESP Pixel Stick software (free and open source). The LED's themselves are £6-7 on ebay for a string of 50 (all individually controllable) and you can link 1,2,10 strings together etc. Power
  7. Was going to do something like this a few years ago, but never got round to it due to life in general. Anyways, this year I decided I was going put some lights up, and this is how it turned out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB1kPaiL5Q0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-7-6rXIDy8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeAReZ6ASQY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXxDd1nxNLM
  8. I got out of alts back into btc, after ripple (XRP) raped me. It's forecast that the btc price is going to go +++ with the bitcoin gold fork that's coming up on the 25th, so might be an thought to get into btc, then buy back alts cheaper while everyone's waiting for the btc gold. (Just what I've read anyways - I accept no responsibility if you lose money ) Also found a group (free) for trading tips / advice / community. https://join.slack.com/t/cryptodogpound/shared_invite/enQtMjU1ODc4NjA4MzU5LWY1OWQwNjRiYjcxYzEzZGM4MTQ3MWU4MGE4OWE3OWMyZjA1YTdmN2U3MTE1MmEwNDZhZDBhMG
  9. Good question, I'd think people are going to get out of alts, and into bitcoin to get "bitcoin Gold"? when the fork happens, as whatever bitcoin you will hold, will automatically give you the same amount of bitcoin gold at the time of the chain split. So I think bitcoin price would increase myself... Seems to be increasing at the moment $4601 currently.

  12. From what I was reading, when the fiat currency's starts dying, people will be looking to store their diminishing purchasing power into other assets. Gold / Silver have historically been a safe haven, bitcoin / cryptos are new but also outside of the banking system and perhaps also considered a store of value. It also may be easier to buy some things at a distance with them than sending heavy metals in the post
  13. Probably, perhaps this is the whole North Korea thing?
