Got a call from the 'Retirement Advice Centre' today.

Based in Suffolk, phone number is 01473 674009.

They know my name and that I've got a private pension fund, they also tell me they've been trying to find me for some time. Briefly , they warned me that recent rule changes in pension rules leave me at risk of financial losses.

Ok.

I've told then to ring back tomorrow as I'm too busy right now.

I can't find much on the Web about them. Yeah they have a website etc. Googling their name plus words such as scam result in very little.

I've looked and found they aren't registered on the Financial Services Register.

If / when they call back , shall I tell them where to shove their advice?

Anyone heard of them or had dealings with them?

Driving home tonight down a country lane on the way home i came across some temporary traffic lights that are adjacent to land being used for construction of new industrial units. They have been digging up the road for a couple of weeks and work mainly at night but no work was being done tonight.

I was half way down the coned off lane when i hit 2 potholes and blew out my front tyre, when i got out of the other end of the traffic lights there were 6 other cars with damaged tyres. Speaking to some of the other drivers i learnt that there had been many others that have blown tyres and it's all over facebook. I drove to a safer place and changed my tyre and drove back to find a further 3 cars with blown tyres.

I got the name of the council who have authorised the roadworks and also the contractor. I gave all the drivers my business card and asked them to contact me tomorrow to swap details and 2 other guys were going to take photos of the potholes.

I'm pretty sure someone has to pay for my tyre and tracking but do they have any kind of get out on this based on the recent extreme weather? I wouldn't be surprised if there were more than a hundred vehicles damaged and probably more getting damaged as i write this.

	Hey Y'all

Long story, but here we go.

About a year ago my son was involved in an accident, (his fault) and his car was out of action while being repaired by the insurer. After asking all and sundry if he could borrow our cars and all of us saying no can do as we need them. My son's employer very kindly said he would add him to company insurance of the company Van whilst his car is out of action.

All with me so far.... Wait for it.

Well apparently, my son's boss couldn't get him on the company insurance as he hadn't had enough driving experience, so his boss very kindly forked out for some temporary insurance for 1 week for my son to drive the company vehicle, whilst awaiting his car to be repaired, so that my son could get into work.

	Stay with me......

Now while driving the company van back to work at the end of the week after my son had got his car back, he had another accident! (don't ask, he's a thick git at times) and ended up writing off the company vehicle by pulling out of a T Junction without looking properly and getting T Boned by another vehicle.

No problem we thought as he's insured by the temporary cover...... Errrrr no! it ran out about 2 hours before the accident, at around 5.30 in the evening, accident was around 7.30pm.

So anyway, he did the right thing an gave his details to the poor guy that he pulled out on.

The temporary insurance after several months blew the claim out, saying he wasn't covered at the time of the accident, and said they would pass on the claim to the original insurer of the van, which is the company insurance.

We never heard anything for more months, and then my son received a phone call from the company insurance who said that the claim had been paid ( I assume by accident) and would he like to pay any money towards the claim. My son explained that he was, and still is earning £10 per hour and lives in a 2 bed council flat supporting his girlfriend and 2 kids and is on benefits and cant afford to pay anything. So they said ok thanks, and that was that.

Skip forward another 3 months to the other day, when my son receives a letter from DAC Beachcroft Claims ltd

Saying that "They have been instructed by AXA (his boss's company car insurance co.) to recover their losses arising from the aforementioned incident.

And that they hold him responsible in negligence for their clients outlay in this matter"

" Details of their clients outlay shortly to follow, alternatively pass this letter onto his insurer to deal with the claim".

It then goes onto say "Please accept this letter as formal notice Pursuant to section 151 and 152 of the Road traffic act 1988.

Should he choose to make an interim payment it may not cover the full amount claimed and they reserve the right to retain the payment on an interim basis whilst investigations continue and may still result in court proceedings.

	So help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes he acknowledges that the accident was his fault, but he thought he was insured, as most insurances finish at midnight, not 5.30 in the afternoon.

So other than accepting full responsibility and offering to pay £10 per month which is all he could afford, especially as we don't know how much this claim could end up being.

What can we do to mitigate the situation?

As this is all new, do you have to register as self employed? What are the pros and cons of registering?

Are they are pitfalls or advice or even loopholes to be aware off? Obviously, all costs receipts etc and sales would be documented.

Does self employed affect your National Insurance status etc?

So first thing I need to say is Fuck*ng Insurance Companies!!!

Now I've got that off my chest...

Apologies in advance for the wall of text!!! on 8th Jan I was in a bit of a collision - nothing major. Stopped on a roundabout at traffic lights (Chain bar at Cleckheaton near Bradford on the A58 if anyone knows it). I'm third car in queue, one of the middle lanes.

As we are at the red light (and it was rush hour - 7.25am), the cars coming onto the roundabout filled the available space, and a truck trying to get to the inside lane blocked ours after the lights.

Lights go green and as lane is blocked car no1 doesnt move - waiting for the traffic to move on.

Car no2 doesnt like this - goes into reverse (to presumably go round car no1) and comes barrelling into me. Luckily I had the handbrake on so didnt go into the car behind.

Car no2 starts driving off, but I flash him as I start following him and he pulls over in a layby just off the roundabout (on the A58 towards halifax - bit of a truck stop).

We have a chat - look at cars - his is a company car (works for Kings Security in Bradford) can't see any visible damage at the time as its dark etc, but I snap a pic of his car anyway. he writes down his name and number and off we go.

I get to work and take some pic's of my car when its light - turns out a bit of chrome is scuffed and there is a bit of a gouge in the paint on the bumper - so not much on the outside, but car had been rattling - all the plastic insides of the bumper are broken and loose.

I give the insurance company a call that night, give them all the details including hsi name and number etc - and insurance company arrange for car to be fixed. Turns out later that day that his details are incorrect - no one at the company with that name and phone number is not correct (although I suspect its prob close to his real one as he wrote it without thinking too much).

Now - I hadn't heard off the insurance company so I give them a call - turns out he is now claiming I drove into the back of him! Cheeky Fucker - and is now claiming whiplash etc...

To make it worse - the insurance company are siding with him claiming its the most likely scenario...fuckwits!!

Any suggestions on how to take to forwards? I'm pissed off that my insurance will go up anyway never mind having to cover my excess and lose no claims etc for the car fixing...

Cheers guys

My daughter has a saturday retail sales Job and has been there for a couple of yrs whilst she's at Uni. She was asked to come in this afternoon to pick up some extra hours.

Why she was there, the Boss's of the company had organised for Charity workers to go to the store. She was put in a room as a 1 on 1, and was asked about giving to charity. She said she cant as she only works 1 day a week but was repeatedly asked and she still kept saying no, then the charity guy started to put his hand on her shoulder & asked again and again. She agreed and sighed but doesn’t know how to get out of it as it comes out of her pay packet.

Another worker there also said No repeatedly as they already give to another charity, that person was told to cancel what they were giving out, and to give the money to them instead !

Now, im sure this is breaking some kind of law, but wtf can we do about it ?

Also, there is no information on how to cancel it in any of the documentation that she came home with.
